ART ON DISPLAY

Piece Name: Early Autumn - Eggplant

Early Autumn - Eggplant explores the rich variety of eggplants found at Thursday’s North Berkeley Farmers’ Market. These eggplants were gathered and drawn in the early autumn - marking the last remnants of summer’s abundance.

Location: 37.88104, -122.26947 (near 1451 Shattuck Avenue in the median)

Piece Name: Early Autumn - Persimmon

One of my favorite features of Berkeley is the sheer amount of fruit trees found in gardens, on sidewalks, and in parks. I find that there is a really special community cultivated around the harvest of these trees; every summer and autumn neighbors, friends, and families exchange their bounties. Early Autumn - Persimmon investigates the unique shapes and colors of the fuyu persimmon - a vibrant harbinger of autumn and winter found throughout Berkeley.

Piece Name: Morning Glory

Morning Glory celebrates the playful growth habit of the Ipomoea vine found all over Berkeley. At the peak of their bloom, this plant’s bright flowers glow in dusk’s fading light.
